Half-Life: Uplink

Half-Life: Uplink is a set of levels cut from the original Half-Life game, which would have appeared “prior to or during the Lambda Core chapter.” In 1999, VALVe published Uplink as a 48 MB downloadable demo of Half-Life. Jason Stephen later repackaged only the game files as “Uplink Lite,” allowing anyone with a full installation of Half-Life to enjoy a much shorter download.
The appearance of Steam, however, makes installation of the Uplink files is a little less straightforward, so I’ve repackaged them in an installer designed to take care of everything for you. Download Half-Life: Uplink (3.84 MB) Once installed, you can play Uplink by invoking the console and entering “map hldemo1″.
Note that while the Uplink files are installed, the intro sequence of the regular Half-Life game will show the wrong text. This can be fixed by running the included uninstaller, located at “Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\your_account\half-life\valve\uplink-uninst.exe”, or alternatively renaming the “Titles.txt” file in the same directory.
Finally, you can use the recently re-released high-definition models in Uplink by following this installation link. The next time you launch Half-Life, Steam will download the model pack for you.
